Taylor
Taylor Swift was a rarity in pop culture: she was the only superstar to have transitioned from the traditional to the mainstream and become a pop icon worldwide. Swift shed the country influences like they were an extra layer of skin. She revealed that she was among the finest singers/songwriters from the generation she was born into. Swift could make the occasion personal, or use the moment to benefit. This was evident in her first hits, particularly the Neo-Tribute Tim McGraw but her second album 2008's Fearless showed a writer discovering the person she really was, and, in doing so, gaining a mass audience. The album was able to have significant legs not only on the U.S. where it racked up six platinum singles thanks to Top Ten hits Love Story and the hit single You Belong with Me but throughout the globe, performing especially well within Canada, the U.K. Canada and Australia. Speak Now delivered almost two years later, which consolidated the achievement and propelled Swift to the heights of fame. The three albums following -- Red 2012, 1989 2014 as well as Reputation 2017, Swift's success only grew. It was a clear sign she had moved to the new music scene where she fit in. Her name was always at the top of pop even after she changed her style with her sibling albums Folklore and Evermore in the year 2020.
